The Yokohama Advan A052 is an extreme performance summer tire, designed for performance vehicle owners who participate in autocross and track day events. It’s basically a track-oriented tire that’s approved for street use. It offers Yokohama’s highest level of DOT-approved performance and is one of the most popular tires among aftermarket enthusiasts.
This tire is engineered with Yokohama’s motorsports MS compound and has an asymmetric tread design to offer high levels of grip. Looking at the tread pattern, you’ll see wide center ribs and a large outboard shoulder, which contributes to better traction. Yokohama also incorporated notches in the outboard micro groove, which aids in cooling the tire during track use. While this tire is designed primarily for summer use, there is a pair of wide, circumferential grooves to help prevent hydroplaning.
The Yokohama Advan A052’s casing uses two plies of nylon cord that supports a pair of wide, steel belts that are located underneath the tread.
This tire should never be used or stored in cold temperatures below 14°F or -10°C.

Yokohama Advan A052 tire User reviews
As one of the most well-known tires among performance enthusiasts and the aftermarket, the Yokohama Advan A052 has mostly positive reviews. Many users praise the tire’s handling and traction performance, but do caution not to use them in the rain or wet. The biggest complaints have to do with the Advan A052’s wear, which is rapid and possibly more so than other track-oriented performance tires.
Those who took this tire to the track and autocross events found its performance to be predictable and forgiving, although they do get noisy once they start wearing down. Many of the user reviews mention how great of an autocross tire it is. Some did note that the tire suffers when overheated, so it’s best to spray them down or cool them off in between laps.
