The Michelin CrossClimate2 tire is an excellent grand touring, all-season tire that will work on passenger cars, crossovers, SUVs, and electric vehicles. Although it does meet the industry’s severe snow requirements and has the 3PMSF symbol, this tire should only be used in light snow conditions. If you live in an area that experiences significant snowfall, you’ll want a dedicated winter tire and the CrossClimate2 is not it. Otherwise, this tire is a fantastic option for drivers who want to cover all four seasons with solid performance in dry, wet, and light snow conditions.
For the CrossClimate2, Michelin uses its Thermal Adaptive all-season tread compound. The V-formation, directional tread contributes to its all-season performance, while PIANO Noise Reduction Tuning helps reduce road noise. Still, some users do complain that the tires get extremely noisy after some use. Contributing to better braking performance are 3D SipeLock technology and V Ramp chamfers.
The Michelin CrossClimate2 uses a two-ply polyester casing with two supporting steel belts. Below, you’ll find the results of internal tests that Michelin conducted, comparing the CrossClimate2 with some of its leading competitors.
Michelin internal wet braking tests:
Michelin conducted internal wet braking tests comparing its CrossClimate2 tire with the Continental CrossContact LX25, Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady, Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack, and the Continental PureContact LS. The braking test involved stopping from 50 mph using tires buffed to 3/32″ remaining tread depth.

Michelin internal dry braking tests:
Internal dry braking tests were conducted from 60 mph, with Michelin comparing the CrossClimate2 with the same tires as the wet braking tests.
Test vehicle: 2020 Toyota RAV4 | Average stopping distance | Tire size: 235/55R18 |
Michelin CrossClimate2 | Continental CrossContact LX25 | Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady |

Michelin internal treadwear tests:
Michelin also conducted internal treadwear tests, estimating tire life based on calculating the most-worn groove of a rotated set. Once again, the CrossClimate2 was compared to the Continental CrossContact LX25, Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady, Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack, and Continental PureContact LS.

Michelin CrossClimate2 tire User reviews
The majority of user reviews for the Michelin CrossClimate2 are positive, with many buyers praising its performance and traction in dry, wet, and light snow conditions. The biggest complaints involved excessive road noise after some use and there were some occasional reports of a rough ride. It does appear the Michelin CrossClimate2 lives up to its impressive treadwear claims.
Who should buy the Michelin CrossClimate2 tire?
Buyers should consider the Michelin CrossClimate2 if they deal with all four seasons, but only light snowfall. These tires offer impressive performance on dry, wet, and light snow conditions with equally impressive tread life. They can be a bit noisy once the tread wears down, which is something to keep in mind if you want a quiet ride. We would not recommend these tires if you deal with heavy snowfall or icy conditions.
