The Goodyear Assurance All-Season, as its name suggests, is an all-season tire that is offered in a variety of sizes, ranging from 14″ to 20″. Designed to deliver good performance in wet, dry, and light snowy conditions, the Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire is a favored option within the segment largely due to its impressived advertised treadwear.
Considered an entry-level tire, the Goodyear Assurance All-Season offers good value but does have below average performance in snowy conditions. Overall, the tire offers a quiet and comfortable ride with predictable handling in dry conditions. It’s a decent, practical option for family vehicles such as sedans and minivans.
The tire uses an all-season compound that Goodyear has molded into a symmetric tread design. Independent shoulder blocks provide stability, while four wide grooves assist to remove water and slush. There are multiple sipes to assist in light snow, but they don’t do enough to deliver confident driving in those conditions. Internally, the Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire features a polyester cord body and twin steel belts.
Pros
- Decent performance for the price
- Quiet
- Good performance in dry conditions
Cons
- Owners report tread life isn’t close to the advertised warranty
- Poor performance in snowy conditions
Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire User reviews
User reviews for the Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire are largely mixed. Owners report it delivers above average dry performance, average performance in wet conditions, and below average to poor performance in winter and snow conditions. Although it does have a 65,000-mile tread life warranty, many owners report fair treadwear with the tire. Some owners stated that the tires were worn down to 4/32″ at around 30,000 miles and had issues getting the tread life warranty without proof of rotation every 5,000 miles. It’s worth noting that proof of rotation is standard in order for a tread life warranty to be honored.
Who should buy the Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire?
Although it is an all-season tire, the Goodyear Assurance All-Season is recommended for car owners who mostly drive in dry conditions with occasional rain. The tire’s performance in heavy rain leaves a bit to be desired, same with light snow. It’s a viable option for economy car owners who drive less than the average car owner.
Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire Warranty
The Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire is eligible for Goodyear’s Replacement Limited Warranty. This warranty covers the tire with a free or prorated-price replacement if you experience noise, vibrations, or roughness after installation. You must report the issue within the first 2/32″ of usable tread or 12 months from date of purchase. This is a pretty standard tire warranty that you’ll find from reputable tire manufacturers.
The tread life warranty however is impressive, covering up to 6 years or 65,000 miles. Like other tread life warranties, the tire will be replaced on a prorated basis if the tread wears evenly down to the treadwear indicators (worn to 2/32″) before the warranted mileage and with proof of rotation as recommended. Goodyear’s Tread Life Limited Warranty only applies if you’re the original purchaser of the tires, and the tires have only been used on the vehicle they were originally installed.
